Purpose, Mission & Vision

Every human being, every unique soul treading the terrains of this Earth, carries within them a mission that beckons them at some juncture of their existence. However, all too frequently, we falter in pursuing this mission, we stumble, lose our way, or, at worst, abandon the mission entirely. This surrender typically manifests for two compelling reasons.

Firstly, the mission may not authentically align with our purpose. Like a ship setting sail without a compass, we become adrift in the vast ocean of life, oblivious to our true north. The mission becomes a daunting task, not a passionate pursuit, if it does not echo the harmonies of our soul's purpose. Hence, it is paramount to discern our intrinsic purpose before embarking on any mission.

Secondly, we are often bereft of a tangible vision for our mission. A vision is not merely a dream or an aspiration. It is the grand tapestry we weave with threads of imagination, illuminating the roadmap towards our mission. Without vision, we are akin to a painter attempting to create a masterpiece without a muse, a playwright scripting a drama void of characters.

Life, in its most beautiful essence, is a profound journey of self-discovery and purpose. A journey where your unique purpose sets the foundation. When this is discovered, your life’s missions become clear as crystal - they appear before you, ready to be undertaken. But, it is your duty to cultivate a vibrant vision for them, a picture painted with the colors of conviction, hope, and foresight.

Therefore, let's embark on this journey, of unearthing our purpose, aligning it with our missions, and of shaping a vision that not only lights the path but also ignites the passion within us to carry on, no matter the hurdles we face.

As an illustration, consider my own existence. I am acutely aware that my life's purpose lies in serving others through the vibrant lenses of media and arts, while simultaneously being a disciplined, good-hearted figure to my family, my partners, and the world at large. The missions that sprout from this purpose are multifold, ranging from creating a recognizable brand, organizing grand events, crafting compelling books, to writing thought-provoking films and more.

For each mission embedded within my purpose, it's incumbent upon me to cultivate a unique, encompassing vision. This vision is not a mere construct of thought, but a mental reality, a deeply immersive experience that encapsulates the full scope and success of the mission. If I am scripting a film, I don't just pen down the dialogues and plot. I plunge into the vibrant vision of the film - visualizing the production process, foreseeing the film's screening in theaters or its release on popular streaming platforms. I envision the success of the film, its ripples in the cinematic world with a clarity as vivid and crisp as the tangible world surrounding me.

This vision, my friends, isn't fleeting or transient. It must be carried within, nourished and guarded, throughout the entirety of the project until the moment it transforms into reality.

This vision is not ephemeral, it isn't a mere visitor to your thoughts. Rather, it becomes an intimate companion, living within you, fueling your actions and decisions throughout the project until its eventual realization. Possessing such a clear and potent vision in the theater of your mind provides the impetus and roadmap necessary for the successful fruition of your mission. It becomes a compass, a guiding light that illuminates your path, steering you persistently and confidently towards your ultimate objective. By crafting this lucid vision in your mind's eye, you carve a clear, direct path leading to the successful realization of your mission.

Suppose your purpose is deeply rooted in health and wellness, and one of your missions is to become a notable influencer, commanding the attention and admiration of one million followers across your social media platforms. This is an admirable mission - it has the potential to not only generate income through brand partnerships, sponsorships, and direct sales to a dedicated audience, but more importantly, it serves as a platform to impact lives positively and disseminate health consciousness at scale.

However, success in this mission necessitates the cultivation of a crystal-clear vision, a mental masterpiece where your mission breathes life and color. This vision should be so well-defined and vivid that it propels your belief in the mission, anchors it in your conscious and subconscious mind. Only when you see it, feel its vibrancy, know its every detail, and hold it firmly in your mind, can you proceed to the planning phase with unwavering conviction.

Guided by the beacon of your vision, you strategize, laying out the practical steps that will carry you towards your mission. These steps might include brainstorming innovative content ideas, crafting a unique brand identity, establishing a consistent posting schedule, employing a content management tool, collaborating with fellow influencers, mastering the nuances of advertising and marketing, and so on.

Then, my friends, begins the phase of industrious effort - the execution of your carefully laid plans, where vision meets action, where ideas transform into reality. It is the relentless pursuit of these steps, day in and day out, that takes you closer to your mission, and in turn, brings you face-to-face with the realization of your life's purpose.

The fusion of purpose, mission, vision, planning, and relentless execution paints the panorama of success. Hold onto this picture as you venture on your journey. It is in this relentless pursuit that you will find your purpose manifesting into reality.

We will embark on multiple missions in our lifetime that will all require a vision. Drawing from my own experience, different seasons in life have called upon me to undertake different missions. At times, my mission has been to pen a thought-provoking book; in another, it has been to script a captivating film. In some instances, my mission has been to orchestrate memorable events, or to design merchandise that strikes a chord with my audience. On occasion, multiple missions intertwine, demanding my simultaneous attention and effort.

The pivotal insight here is that all of these varied missions must bear a thread of harmony with your overarching life purpose. In my case, each mission I undertake aligns with my broader purpose of serving humanity through the vehicle of media and the arts.

Beware the pitfall of pursuing missions that lack this critical alignment with your life's purpose. Such pursuits can lead to a hollow sense of fulfillment, a lingering dissatisfaction, and a regrettable loss of your invaluable time. Unfortunately, it's all too common for us to find ourselves immersed in missions that hold no semblance with our authentic purpose. Let this not be your narrative.

Every mission, every pursuit, and indeed every individual that becomes part of your life journey, must share a harmonious resonance with your purpose. To put it more bluntly, if an endeavor or even a relationship for that matter, does not serve or enhance your purpose, consider stepping away from it.

Remember, the pathway to true fulfillment and meaningful success lies in ensuring your life's purpose is the compass guiding your every mission and that you have a vision. Anything that causes a deviation from this guiding north star, however enticing it may seem, is likely a detour that diverts you from your ultimate destiny. Embrace purpose-aligned living and watch as your life transforms into a symphony of meaningful actions and rewarding outcomes.

In essence, here is the symphony of life we should all strive to orchestrate: Identify and acknowledge your life's unique purpose. Recognize the missions that blossom from this fertile ground of purpose. Cultivate a vivid and inspiring vision for these missions as they unfold before you. And then, with conviction and tenacity, strategize and execute.
